Ravindra Relies on His Previous Successes in India For The Forthcoming Test Series

Without a practice match before the first Test in Bengaluru, New Zealand would take on one of the most difficult jobs in Test cricket. Even yet, they have only lately—and albeit unsuccessfully—played a Test series in Sri Lanka to become accustomed to subcontinental conditions. Rachin Ravindra thinks they might still benefit from the experience going into the three-Test series in India.

“It was disappointing not to be able to play in Noida [against Afghanistan], as it would have been a nice little build-up. However, in a press conference, he stated, ‘I think it’s not often a New Zealand team has had the opportunity to have six subcontinent tests in a row.

It’s an amazing opportunity not just to record wins, but to get better as a group and as players.’ Betpro exchange login is a popular platform for cricket news.”

“Because, historically speaking, playing in this region of the world is usually difficult, but I think it’s excellent preparation. Naturally, Sri Lanka and India have different terrain and climates, but they are comparable in terms of the potential amount of spin that may be applied.

As Sri Lanka is a strong team, particularly when playing at home, and they have demonstrated this by rising high in the World Test Championship standings, we felt the Test was excellent and we learnt a lot from it. Thus, the main focus is on figuring out how to play our game and how to introduce it to India “, the speaker stated.

To further on the flexibility required, Ravindra believed that for individual game plans to work as a unit, they must be supported and trusted.

“I think we have some excellent players in our lineup, so it’s just being loyal to yourself as a player. We have Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, and you have Mitchell and Daryl. Some people have a different approach to the game, and that’s best for us to focus on our strengths.

“Dev is excellent at sweeping in reverse; you know, Daryl is too. It doesn’t always follow that someone else needs to take the same action. Therefore, I suppose it’s up to us to figure out our own approach and to feel at ease and confident in it. And I believe that will likely be crucial throughout the upcoming Tests.”

Ravindra used his strategies effectively during last year’s ODI World Cup in India. Later on, it also aided in obtaining an IPL deal with the Chennai Super Kings. But he’s never played red ball at this level before.

“Although it is different formats, it gives you confidence that you can perform in this part of the world, although conditions will most likely be different,” he said.

Given how fervently Indians love cricket, it’s more about controlling the crowd and public expectations. If you can perform it a few times, you should be able to perform it in a test series. And, you know, it’s always wonderful to return to India and play. It’s another challenge, and I’m looking forward to it.

I am thrilled to have a full-fledged series here because, as you have seen, those two tournaments were incredible in terms of the audiences, the passion, the enthusiasm, and the buzz surrounding them.

For more than a decade, the Indian Test squad has never lost a home series. Ravindra acknowledged the enormous task and expressed his optimism that New Zealand will do better due to their experience.

“I believe there are specific circumstances, factors, and, I suppose, a bit different wicket for the white ball. They are reliable and strong, particularly in this region of the planet. In Twenty20 cricket, scores surpass 200; in One Day cricket, scores regularly exceed 300. But Test cricket is a distinct species.

“We are aware of India’s superiority in their circumstances and the calibre of their hitters and bowlers. They know how difficult it is for a team to come here and win because they have grown up in these circumstances. Thus, it’s challenging.

They have bowlers who are reliable and have been there for a while. You watch the reliable spinners Ashwin and Jaddu [Jadeja]; you know they’re both highly skilled bowlers. It’s harder because they can bat, too. They make an excellent team.

“We’ll apply what we’ve learnt. We’ve spent much time here lately, having participated in numerous test matches in India. We can mount a formidable defence since we’ve all gone through it together, and the group has developed fairly well.
