Let’s See How You Can Make It…

WHAT YOU NEED:

You must gather a few supplies and ingredients before you start.

  • A 13″ x 9″ chocolate cake that has been fully cooled
  • Three tablespoons of vegetable shortening (if using chocolate chips)
  • One jar of chocolate frosting or several cups of homemade
  • Two cups of chocolate chips or black candy melts from a package
  • Four to five packages of pop rocks
  • Licorice or a fruit roll-up
  • Popsicle or lollipop sticks
  • Block of foam
  • Basic cooking utensils
  • Brightly colored paper

Baking Instructions

Using a straw or other tool, create a small cylindrical compartment in the top of the cake balls that extends down about half the diameter of the ball.

You can choose how big you want your finished cake pop bombs to be, but I know it’s sad. First, crumble your cooled chocolate customized cake SG and put the crumbles in a bowl.

Add enough chocolate frosting to make the crumbles stick together. Then, pop the mixture into the refrigerator until it cools and solidifies.

Cake pops should be frozen. In order to prevent the cake from crumbling while being dipped, the pops are frozen.

Decorating Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe basin until they are melted to a pleasant consistency. Add 3 tablespoons of Crisco if using chocolate chips.
  • Next, insert a few centimeters of your Popsicle or lollipops sticks into the bottom of the cake balls after dipping them into the molten chocolate. Let the chocolate solidify.
  • Cover the cake balls completely and evenly with the melted chocolate by dipping them into it. Allow the coated cake pops to cool after pushing them into a block of foam.
  • You can use a Popsicle stick to scoop out chocolate if the compartment you created previously filled with it. Before proceeding, allow the chocolate shell to solidify completely.
  • Place Pop Rocks within the cake pops’ pre-made divisions. In order to prevent the Pop Rocks from popping when they come into contact with the surrounding cake’s moisture, DO NOT fill the cake pops until an hour after serving.
  • Finally, place a tiny “cap” of cake mixture or melted chocolate into the top of the compartment. Finally, garnish the cake pop with a twisted Fruit Roll-Up or a small piece of licorice.
  • Cut out tiny paper stars and use melted chocolate to adhere them to the licorice to simulate the appearance of a lit fuse.
